Question by H2Oskier: Genital Warts: Possible from shared razor?
While shaving my pubic area, I got a few tiny cuts from my razor but thought nothing of it. Within a week or so, I began developing bumps around the base of my penis. At that time, I had 2 other roommates sharing the same shower, so I’ve been wondering ever since whether I may have contracted warts from one of them using my razor. Is contraction in this way possible, or is it much more likely that this was a dormant HPV that coincidentally happened when I caused those small nicks on my skin?

It has now been almost 2 years, and I have tried everything– from herbal remedies, to self OTC freezing methods, to Aldara. Looks like my next step will be cryotherapy…..ugh. Doctor’s have had varying diagnosis’…..from Molluscum to Warts. Any thoughts?
Been with my wife for 3 years. She has NO symptoms.
Previous doctor treated me with Aldara. The medication hasn’t worked worth a s**t.

Genital Warts are a sexually transmitted disease. You need to go see a doctor. You “caught” them from having sex with someone who was infected with them.

I could see that being a possibility. I am not sure if anything would be contracted but maybe if the room mate cut their skin and just put it back with them also using on their pubic region, tiny fragments of skin and maybe even blood were caught in the razors so when you cut yourself it may have gone into your system.

DONT LET OTHER PEOPLE USE YOUR RAZOR!

You could have gotten them from a shared razor, but it is more likely that you got them from sex. HPV is the most common STD and a condom doesn’t cover everything.

My roommate had cryotherapy and it was very successful but a little uncomfortable. I think it is worse for women because the warts tend to be on the labia and inside the vagina.

Take care of this right away and inform any of your sexual partners.

Yeah…I would be worried..go to a doctor…you should never share a razor with anyone….you can contract hepatitis from a shared razor I don’t see why you couldn’t contract genital warts! Go to see your doctor !

This site says it is possible. There seems to be a lot of debate on the issue. I would be inclined to say that if there is the possibility of blood exchange it’s possible.
